Short Hair, Don't Care

i think i have spent a lot of posts within the total of 1008 posts in this blog, discussing about my hair.

you see, as a guy, i see my hair as my asset, the fact that i need not cover it up as part of religious beliefs gives me a clue that i shall not neglect my hair. it's a crown, it's my label.

in the movie "Hairspray" there's a quote that i cracks me up everytime, saying that one must not let their hair lay on their cheeks like dead twigs.

i always have dilemmas when i get the vibe and signs that it's time for a haircut. unlike kids who have just finished high school and getting excited that there are no more school rules to execute them for having long hair so they decide not to cut their hair until it is time for the SPM results day and they come back to school that day to show off how long their hair have become as a status of saying that they have sort of evolved (fast and very different) since the last time they set foot on the school grounds (evolve, my ass!), i cannot tahan having long and thick hair.

i like my hair to be neat and presentable. i believe that i have reached the age of having to dress properly, to be presentable most of the time, in which is highly influenced by the thought that i am an architecture student, soon to be working in architectural firms, hopefully and the last thing that i should become is looking like amateurs and messy despite the sleepless nights and unfilled stomach.

i like my hair short. i like it well-trimmed. call it nerdy or whatever, i just find it to be my label. i am the one with the trimmed hair and i am not excited to grow my hair, looking like drug addicts.

i guess i'm one of those SHDC (short hair, don't care) guys, like Scotty McCreery often trends on Twitter.

this guy's hair is just too awesome. effortless.

i tried to do this once, or twice. apparently my hair is too straight to handle the volume. that's a first world pain right there.

kind of what i would go for. i have quite long and thick area at the front and center and i plan to thin out my sides. i reckon i will ace this look.

my advice, if you really want to keep a long hair, make sure it suits your facial characters. even long hairs need to be properly shaped. you can't just grow it like that, it needs to be tailored before it can be grown. thick haircut could use some highlights, especially when you style it to spike or pushed back, you need the lines showing the architecture of the hair. the lines show depth and depth promotes interest. the equation is quite simple actually.

oh, and the right example to the "fresh out of high school kids growing hair to show maturity" is actually..... Justin Bieber's.

My project for my 7th Semester (4th Year) in Bachelor of Science (Architecture). It is the conceptual animation for the Alternative Affordable Housing project in Precinct 18 Putrajaya.

The Co-AXES is developed based on the idea of re-achieving sense of community in Malaysian housing through greenery as the catalyst. The idea is derived on various evolution of housing development in Malaysia; from the relocation of the village people to Kampung Baru, the co-operative housing of FELDA, high-rise housing of the Pekeliling Flats and to the recent luxurious housing, ONE KL.

This is Co-AXES 1 by Huariyahya.

I Made It Through Design Submission!

Alhamdulillah, i have managed to go through The Week of Hell and the Design Final Submission. i am proud with my work so far, the fact that i managed to create the 3D within a night, a total of 20 hours, to be exact.

i received great comments from lecturers (both good and bad ones) that has showed me the way to better improve my work. i feel good and i hope things will prevail.

above is the image i produced for my design presentation work. 30 minutes working on this thing with eyes open but mind outside mt body. LOL~

Now, all i need is to go back home, relax, have some home-cooked meals and think of the next steps.

i am left to prepare for the Internal Design Review which starts on this coming Wednesday; to prepare a scale model of the housing scheme, more killer images, a portfolio and if time is enough, a short video montage.

now what's left is to prepare for the greatest test of them all; DESIGN.

20th january is the final submission, 25th is the Internal review and 30th is the External review.

only then can i chill. i plan to stay at home everyday and not to speak to anyone. i plan to wash my car after submission. =)

i cannot believe that i survived this week. works were all done and printed 2 hours before submission, a design crit, an exam paper. oh my God, I am forever grateful that i survived and went through this week calmly and nicely done.

today i underwent design crit session with the client, PJH. things don't go very well, in the end i am still not sure whether i need to fix my masterplanning for the 7th time. they say, "life is like a dick, it gets hard for no reason." hahaha~

but the thing is, i am very satisfied with how my commercial programmes work. they said that i need to get the commercial units close to the streets, but what i did was quite the same, which is to bring the streets into the site, closer to commercial.

the lifestyle sense of my commercial area is very lively and vibrant, as translated by the potential investors in the plan. i don't see how they said that nobody attempted at creating the street cafe lifestyle. I even have Starbucks in there!

on a better note, i squeezed a quickie to edit some photos from the visit to Architecture Without Paper Exhibition in KLPAC, by various architectural design studios from Spain.

a few things has been modified, for instance the 3rd of january 2012 Human Behaviour Coursework assignment has been postponed to be submitted on 12th of january. this is quite a good news at the beginning but as i see it, will clash with a few other works.

with the additions of a few confirmed dates for design work assessments, which are 11th january for the second crit session with the client (Putrajaya Holdings) and 20th january as the final submission, this will eventually hurt.

13th january (FRIDAY THE 13TH) will be the exam day for Architectural Science, along with the submission of the presentation report, which is still untouched. so it's like this:

11th - Design Crit
12th - Human Behaviour
13th - Archiscience Exam paper + Report submission (and Foster the People concert in the evening! =P )

i care not. i just know that i just have to work hard for it.

the outcome is to what i worked for. what i work for depends on how much i want it. how much i want it depends on how it will affect my future.

if the things don't concern me on my future development, then i don't see why i should sacrifice too much time on them. i'll be like Hitler. he knew what he wanted and he worked for it.

that's life.

that's the life you want. shape your own life. don't let people's perception, unscholarly thoughts and jealousy define what you need to do. keep the head straight.

for now, i just want to make sure that my head stays above water. that's all.

i have to say, this one sounds better than the last, though with the similarity of sound between songs, i find it as a great branding for Olly. the old school sound and charm is great for his image and voice. sometimes we just want some jive and groove and with this album, one can get all that.

this album satisfies my interest and i think it will stuck to me for quite a long time.

Alhamdulillah, the first ever assignment out of all the piling works to be submitted this week, and the next, an occurring phenomenon that i labelled as "The Week of Hell" or "Hell Week", has safely landed in front of the lecturer's office, in a box specially prepared for the occasion.

remember Travis..? if you were one of the people who were still in school in the late 90s, you will most probably found them everyday on NTV7, before it's time for school, you know, back during the days when NTV7 only starts its showtime at noon....

yeah, back then you would most probably found Travis music videos, some from BSB, Westlife etc. yeah.. the 90's music.

to me, nothing really manage to beat the songs from the 90's. my experience with the 90's music is quite great actually. i'm lucky enough to be one of those who gave a fuck about the international music scene, back when i was 8. there was The Moffatts, yeah was crazy about them, going for their showcase and live shows, even met them backstage. kinda tagging along my sister's fangirling.

back then, boybands rule. mostly the Brits. Westlife came after Boyzone, still remember trying to get the TV aerial right to at least see the blur and brief image of the music videos. back then Astro was not within our family budget, so we had to use those antennas.

Travis was one of the bands that produce great songs. still remember the times when NTV7 used to play "Turn" everyday. one of my old time favourite. soulful, each word, each melody, each note is composed of pure talent and meaning.

and yeah... nowadays, songs are just plain stupid. keep repeating the same phrase for 4 times, to complete the chorus.

there are lots of work to be done. i hate this situation. when this situation comes, each time, each semester, each year... i will just shut down for a few days, become so tired and sleepy all the time.

honestly, we have lots of free periods this semester, we have a full free day on fridays, then a hectic full day on wednesday and just one late evening class on tuesdays.

yet i don't know how i cannot use those free times for design work. i have to admit, lately the works are quite piling, other subjects are starting to issue out assignments, this semester with lots of writing, solo work.

and i'm not the kind of person who leaves my work halfway, then do another, then another, and finally to get back to the first one, it's just too stupid. things get fucked up.

and classes are getting more absurd. by that, i mean boring. there's one class that i totally can't relate to (not gonna mention which but those who know, you know we've got the same problems), then another is full of shitty jokes.

honestly, the class that still keeps my full interest is history to architecture. i sucked at history back in high school, but mostly because the syllabus sucks. i don't wanna know about all the political stuff; malayan union, who's good, who's bad, SUPP or whatsoever. if one noticed, i only have interest in learning form 4 history. that's all.

but now, history is very interesting. i like history to architecture, in semesters 3,4,6 and 7 especially. learning all those architecture movements is very interesting to me. i like to see transformations. i love developments. i like makeovers etc.

and construction technology has gotten more interesting lately. i really like learning about the SCOLA and tech-build stuff. so interesting, easy to understand. hope and i can ace these 2 subjects.

but then, i liked add maths and chemistry back during SPM. and i didn't get A1 for both.

i am in a situation in which i cannot understand why i am still here doing architecture stuff especially design. but i cannot see myself do something else.

i think i'm in trouble.

p/s : i noticed that i get sad about stupid things, but never shed tears for things worse than that. in fact, i've never cried since i don't know when.

maybe just too emotionally stable. too stable that i just don't cry, not to myself. and that quite scares the hell out of me.

Progressing Spartacus

i have to admit, i have not much progress on my housing design, which will meet its final submission in the near future. possible at the end of this month.

honestly, i can't make a list of what i am still to figure out from the design scheme. currently, i'm back at repairing my design massing, inserting and repairing housing and commercial units. i am yet to define the kind of facilities and public realms my housing scheme has to offer. then i need to put my facade and technological ideas in graphics form, also to relate the functions of gardens, their designs and applications with the sustainability factors of the building.

most important of all, i am yet to design the services and all. god, when will this ever end. i am confident that i can barely meet all the requirements.

oh wait, also, the most important is that i am yet to design the basement car parks. gosh!

i wish all the other subjects don't bother me much, and that all the assignments are no longer being issued so i can devote my time on DESIGN ONLY!

only after i finish all the mentioned design requirements fot my building, that i am able to start producing the 3-dimensional images, the sections, elevations and a proper masterplan.

time please stop. and hopefully, i will become more punctual, more effective, more powerful, less sleepy, more efficient and MORE POSITIVE.

currently i'm super crazy about Spartacus.

just came across this new trailer of Spartacus : Vengeance, which is the 2nd season of the series, set to be premiered in January.

since the actor who played the role Spartacus have died in September, the character has been replaced. but, after seeing the trailer, i have to say that he won't disappoint. he has the same look as the previous actor, though quite noticeable smaller physique, but at one glance, he looks promising!

Hey, I'm Reading

Know what, the other day, i was spending some time out of the studio, i went to MPH Bookstore and looked through some magazines. while a friend was paying a magazine i was buying, i saw this book, and i just thought, "what the hell, i think i'm gonna buy and read this one."

so i bought it. and now i'm reading it.

it's Mein Kampf. a journal by adolf hitler himself.

the last time i read books for fun is the Harry Potter series. that's all. let's just hope that i will manage to finish the book. i have to admit, it's a heavy read. but nevertheless, interesting.

i'm always fascinated with hitler's stories. but have never read about his battles myself. it's always from exhibitions, memorials and movies that i learnt about him. i've never checked him out over the internet or whatsoever.

and also, there's a DVD that comes with it. gonna watch it after i've finished the reading.

might as well post video responds about it once in a while, who knows, maybe. but to match with the amount of time i have just for myself, i think i'll take a long time to finish this. i can barely do my work with all the time i have.

with architecture, things are never ending. there's always a "one step ahead".

hello people, i don't know if you have noticed, but i've been away from my social network accounts since early september, especially facebook, tumblr and this blog.

actually i'm currently busy working on organizing this semester's Archifest with the rest of my studiomates. it's been busy and i barely have time to update. i especially miss tumblr. =(

but, if you want to know how our Archifest is going, actually there has been lots of challenges but so far things are looking good. everyone is getting more excited by the day and i'm getting more anxious by day too. but of course i managed to squeeze in some me time here and there so i don't think that i'm gonna go crazy or anything anytime soon.
